Custom AOI Rules
1) The sensor has pixels nu mbered 0 to 4096*.
2) Three values (red , blue, green) are outp ut per pixel in RGB mod e.
3) Whether mirroring is on or off, 0 is the leftmost pixel.
4) Whether mirroring is on or off, AOI 1 is read out first.
5) In norm al m od e, AOI 1 is closest to the sensor's left ed ge.
6) In mirror mod e, AOI 1 is closest to the sensor's right ed ge.
*4080 active pixels, the last 16 p ixels are inactive.
Base and Medium Modes
1) The total number of pixels w ithin each AOI must be a multiple of 8 and must be greater than or
equ al to 40.
2) In norm al m od e, the first pixel of each AOI (AOI left ed ge) must have the location 8i, w here i = 0,
1, 2 .., 511 (i.e. 8, 960 are allow ed , 12 is not allow ed ).
3) In mirror mod e, the first pixel of each AOI (AOI right ed ge) must have the location 8i + 7, w here i
= 0,1,2 .., 511 (i.e. 7, 15, 4095 are allow ed , 8 is not allow ed ).
Deca RGB Mode
1) The total number of pixels w ithin each AOI must be a multiple of 40.
2) In norm al m od e, the first pixel of each AOI (AOI left ed ge) must have the location 8i, w here i = 0,
1, 2 .., 511 (i.e. 8, 960 are allow ed , 12 is not allow ed ).
3) In mirror mod e, the first pixel of each AOI (AOI right ed ge) must have the location 8i + 7, w here i
= 0,1,2 .., 511 (i.e. 7, 15, 4095 are allow ed , 8 is not allow ed ).

Camera Link cable quality and length

The m axim um allow able Camera Link cable length d epend s on the quality of the cable used and the
Camera Link strobe frequency. Cable qu ality d egrad es over time as the cable is flexed . In ad d ition, as the
Camera Link strobe frequency is increased the m axim um allow able cable length w ill d ecrease. We d o not
guarantee good im aging performance w ith low qu ality cables of any length. In general, w e recommend
the use of high qu ality cables for any cable length.
The follow ing table lists some results achieved using the P4 camera and a selection of cables and frame
grabbers.

Input Signals, Camera Link

The camera accepts control inputs through the Camera Link SDR26F connector. The camera ships in
internal sync, and internally program med integration.
