This chapter describes – supplementary to Chapter 5 "Installation" –
only the additional or different instructions, requirements, and work
steps for correct installation of the DTCO 1381 components in a
vehicle for the carriage of dangerous goods.
Special laws, regulations, and standards apply to vehicles used for
the carriage of dangerous goods:
ADR part 9
EN 50014 requirements
EN 50020 requirements
EN 50021 requirements
EC directives 94/9/EC; 94/55/EC; 98/91/EC
CR (EEC) No. 3821/85
ADR (International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road)
VDE requirements (especially VDE 0170 and 0171)
The following applies in accordance with the provisions of ADR
2001/2003: All components and wires in the electrical system that
must remain under voltage when the battery disconnect switch is
open must:
be suitable for usage within a danger zone and
comply with the general regulations of the IEC standard 60079
parts 0 and 14 as well as the applicable regulations in parts 1, 2,
5, 6, 7, 11, 15, or 18.
The following classification applies to the application of the IEC
standard 60079, part 14:
Components and wires in the electrical system that must remain
under voltage when the battery disconnect switch is open must
fulfil the following regulations:
Zone 1, electrical equipment in general or zone 2, electrical
equipment in the driver's compartment.
Explosion group IIC, temperature class T6.
