Domain Name Server (DNS) Configuration
Use domain name servers when the switch needs to resolve a domain
name (such as nortel.com) to an IP address. Use the following commands
to configure the switch domain name servers:
show ip dns command
Use the show ip dns command to display DNS-related information. This
information includes the default switch domain name and any configured
DNS servers.
The syntax for this command is
show ip dns
Run this command in User EXEC command mode.
ip domain-name command
Use the ip domain-name command to set the default DNS domain name
for the switch. This default domain name is appended to all DNS queries or
commands that do not already contain a DNS domain name.
The syntax for this command is
ip domain-name <domain_name>
Substitute <domain_name> with the default domain name. A domain
name is deemed valid if it contains alphanumeric characters and at least
one period (.).
Run this command in Global Configuration command mode.
no ip domain-name command
Use the no ip domain-name command to clear a previously configured
default DNS domain name for the switch.
The syntax for this command is
no ip domain-name
Run this command in Global Configuration command mode.
