If you enter the correct information, a connection is established with the
switch and a graphical representation is displayed for the switch front panel.
The following figure displays the result of a successful connection to a
Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch 4500 Series 4548-GT-PWR.

Not all information is required to connect to a switch. If you do not
select the v3 Enabled check box, only a Device Name, a Read
Community, and a Write Community value are needed. If you
select v3 Enabled, then Device Name, User Name, Authentication
Protocol, Authentication Password, Privacy Protocol, and
Privacy Password are required.
Consult the switch administrator to determine if SNMP version 3 is
used for switch connectivity and administration in the network.
Click Open.
Note: After you successfully connect to a switch, the connection
information is stored. You can make subsequent connections to the
switch from the Device Manager menu. Select Device > Open Last by
SNMPv1/v2 (for connections made using SNMPv1/v2) or Device >
Open Last by SNMPv3 (for connections made using SNMPv3). Select
