Initial setup and connectivity
2. Attach one end of the Ethernet cable to the 10/100 network port of the phone and the other
end to the wall jack.
3. Attach the phone to the wall mount bracket by inserting the two upper tabs of the wall mount
bracket into the slots on the back of the phone. The lower pair of tabs rest against the back
of the phone and ensure that the phone does not move when the keys are pressed.

Installing the phone

Before you begin
You must do the following:
• Configure the file server.
• Download and extract the firmware zip file to your file server.
• Configure the 46xxsettings.txt file.
Procedure
1. Set up the phone hardware.
2. Plug the Ethernet cable to the phone.
The phone powers up and starts to initialize.
3. The initialization procedure consists of the following processes:
a. The phone checks for LLDP messages.
b. The phone sends a DHCP DISCOVER message to discover the DHCP server in the
network and invokes the DHCP process.
