Adding Equipment to Your
Airbag-Equipped Vehicle

Is there anything I might add to the
front or sides of the vehicle that
could keep the airbags from work‐
ing properly?

Yes. If you add things that change
your vehicle's frame, bumper sys‐
tem, front end or side sheet metal
or height, they may keep the airbag
system from working properly.
Also, the airbag system may not
work properly if you relocate any of
the airbag sensors. If you have any

Changing or moving any parts of
the front or rear seats, safety belts,
the airbag sensing and diagnostic
module or the inside rearview mir‐
ror can affect the operation of the
advanced airbag system. If you

Front Airbag System
The front airbag system consists of
one airbag in the steering wheel and
one in the instrument panel on the
front passenger side. These can be
identified by the word AIRBAG.
There is also an AIRBAG warning la‐
bel on the front of each sun visor.

Never secure a rear-facing child
seat in the right front seat of a car
equipped with a passenger airbag.
Inflation of the airbag in the event
of a collision could seriously injure
or kill a child.
The front airbag system is triggered in
the event of a front-end impact of
a certain severity. The ignition needs
to be switched on.
The car is equipped as standard with
a passenger airbag.
In a frontal collision of a certain se‐
verity the curtain airbags will also be
triggered 3 59.
