Starting the engine using remote
control
■ The selector lever has to be in P
and the vehicle has to be locked by
pressing button e.
■ Within 5 seconds, press and hold
buttonO on remote control until the
turn signal lamps flash. This con‐
firms the remote engine start re‐
quest. If the turn signal lamps are
not visible, press and hold but‐
tonO on remote control for at least
5 seconds. Once the engine is
started, the parking lamps will turn
on and remain on as long as the
engine is running.
The engine will shut off after 10 mi‐
nutes in Remote Engine Start mode.
It will keep on running by selecting
Extending Engine Run Time (see be‐
low) or by pressing button Start/Stop
(Ignition on power mode).
Driving the vehicle after remote
engine start
■ Unlock the vehicle by pressing c
before entering.
■ Press and hold the brake pedal,
then press button Start/Stop once
and move selector lever out of P to
drive the vehicle. The remote con‐
trol has to be inside the vehicle.
The remote engine start has an ap‐
proximate range of up to 15 meters. It
can be restricted by external influen‐
ces.
Vehicles with an automatic climate
control system will automatically
change to a heating or cooling mode
depending on the outside tempera‐
ture during a remote engine start.
When the Ignition on power mode is
active after pushing the Start/Stop
button, the climate control system will
return to the setting the vehicle was

last turned off. Vehicles with heated
or heated and ventilated front seats
can have this feature turn on auto‐
matically during a remote engine
start.
A maximum of two remote engine
starts or remote engine start attempts
are allowed between ignition cycles.
The vehicle's ignition must be turned
on and then back off before the re‐
mote engine start procedure can be
used again.
Extending Engine Run Time
To extend engine run time for 10 mi‐
nutes
■ press button c on remote control
and
■ within 5 seconds, press and hold
buttonO on remote control until the
turn signal lamps flash
while the engine is still running in Re‐
mote Engine Start mode. The 10 min‐
ute extension period will start imme‐
diately.
Remote engine start can only be ex‐
tended once.
