Starting off
Check before starting off or
taking a long trip
■ Tire pressure and condition

■ Engine oil level and fluid levels

■ All windows, mirrors, exterior light‐
ing and license plates are free from
dirt, snow and ice and are opera‐
tional.
■ Proper position of mirrors, seats,
and seat belts 3 30, 3 37,
3 46.
■ Brake function at low speed, partic‐
ularly if the brakes are wet.
Starting the engine
■ The remote control needs to be in
the passenger compartment.
■ Automatic transmission: press and
hold brake pedal and move selector
lever in P or N.
■ Manual transmission: press and
hold clutch pedal.
■ Push Start/Stop button.
Push button again while engine is
running to switch off the engine.

In brief
Parking
■ Always apply parking brake. Pull
switch m on the center console.
■ If the vehicle is on a level surface or
uphill slope, set the selector lever to
P or engage first gear before
switching off the ignition. On an up‐
hill slope, turn the front wheels
away from the curb.
If the vehicle is on a downhill slope,
set the selector lever to P or engage
first gear before switching off the ig‐
nition. Turn the front wheels to‐
wards the curb.
■ Lock the vehicle with button e on
the remote control. Passive entry
system: Touch the sensor field of
the exterior door handle of one of
the front doors to lock the vehicle.
Activate the anti-theft alarm system
3 27.
■ Do not park the vehicle on an easily
ignitable surface. The high temper‐
ature of the exhaust system could
ignite the surface.
■ Close windows.
