Terminal Setup

Remote connection is made through a modem connected to the
COM1 port. To set up the modem, you first use a local terminal
on the COM1 port to set up the parameters of the modem and
RMC connection. You then disconnect the terminal and connect
the modem.

You can connect a terminal or a modem to the COM1 port, but not both at the
same time. You use the terminal to set RMC parameters for the connection,
then connect the modem. See Section 4.9.
