11.4.2 Network File Server Minimum Requirements

Additional Network File Servers (external NAS or computer serving
as one) must meet the following requirements:
• Server class 800 MHz processor
• 8 TB storage
• Any current operating system that supports NTFS drive
partition(s) for PLEX® Elite 9000 data. PLEX® Elite 9000 data is
compatible only with NTFS on network drives.
In addition to the minimum requirements, we recommend the
following:
• A RAID array for data storage to provide data redundancy in
the event of a drive failure—strongly recommended
• An uninterruptible power supply (UPS)—strongly recommended
• 1000 BaseT network connection
• 24 TB of offsite secure (cloud) data storage
It is the user's responsibility to protect their exam data from loss by
frequent backup of the network server. Backup media should be of
archival quality, and the media should be stored in a secure, remote
location.
Failure to back up network file server data
may result in the loss of medical exam data.
Schedule regular backups.
u
The file server must be started prior to the networked PLEX® Elite
9000 and shut down after it, to ensure data integrity.
It is strongly recommended that the file server not be used for
interactive programs, such as web browsing or word processing.

11.4.3 Setting Up a Network File Server (external NAS)

To ensure access to the shared folder on the Network File Server,
create a new user account on the server. This can be any user
name and password, however check with your IT Administrator to
ensure it corresponds to any naming conventions that may be in
use.
On the designated Network File Server, create a folder with a
u
unique name for a dedicated archive folder.
Make it a shared folder.
