Problem
Copies are too light.
Parts of images are not
copied.

Troubleshooting When You Use the Copy/Document Server Function
Cause
A light copy may result when
you use damp or rough
grain paper.
The original is not set
correctly.
The correct paper size is not
selected.
Even if you place originals
on the exposure glass or in
the ADF correctly, margins
of a few millimeters on all
four sides of the original
might not be copied.
The paper is damp.
The exposure glass,
scanning glass, or guide
plate of the ADF is dirty.
Solution
• Use recommended paper. For
details about recommended
paper, see page 207
"Recommended Paper Sizes and
Types".
• Use paper that has been stored in
the recommended temperature
and humidity conditions. For
details about how to store paper,
see page 240 "Paper Storage".
Set the original correctly. For details
about how to set originals, see
page 166 "Placing Originals on the
Exposure Glass" and page 168
"Placing Originals in the Auto
Document Feeder".
Select the correct paper size.
Use "Create Margin" function to
reduce the image of its original size.
For details about image areas that
cannot be copied, see "Create
margin", Basic Operations.
Use paper that has been stored in the
recommended temperature and
humidity conditions. For details about
how to store it, see page 240 "Paper
Storage".
Clean the exposure glass, scanning
glass, or guide plate of the ADF. For
