There are two ways to trigger the reader from the DataMan Setup Tool. The first is to use the
Trigger hotkey as you have been instructed multiple times in this manual. You can also use
CTRL+T from the keyboard (the DataMan Setup Tool must be the active window). You may
notice that the various types are followed by either external or internal in parentheses. External
means the trigger signal comes from external to the reader and internal from within the reader.
From the Settings menu click on the Light and Imager Settings hotkey (Fig. 69) to open the Light
and Imager Settings dialog. Select the Trigger Settings tab if it is not selected by default.
The default Trigger Type is Single (external) (Fig. 70) and this is the type discussed first.
This type has the following attributes.

Captures a single image with each trigger signal.

Uses manual exposure (automatic exposure could require multiple images to reach the
correct exposure).

Trigger Delay allows setting a delay between the receipt of the trigger signal and the
image acquisition to allow a moving part to enter the field of view. This can be set to Time
or Distance (the latter requires an encoder to determine the distance).

Timeout aborts the read attempt if no code is found. This could be used to assure
that the reader is ready for successive parts when an unreadable code is present or no
code is found. This may not always be needed but when parts are presented at regular
intervals it may be necessary. This should not be set to less than the maximum decode
time of a normally readable code.
