DataMan Trigger Modes
Introduction:
Not all code reading applications are the same; if they were, flexibility in a reader (hardware and
software) would be pointless. Because each application is a bit different not only does the hardware
need to be configurable (lens, light) so does the software/firmware of the unit. You have seen some
of the capabilities and flexibility of the software in previous labs. This lab is concerned with how the
reader is triggered for different applications. While this may seem trivial it is one of the more
complex features of the DataMan readers because of the variety of trigger types and available
settings for those types.
Start:
So that whatever settings you have changed to this point do not affect what you want to accomplish
in this lab you need to reset the configuration to a default state. To do this click on the System menu
in the ribbon and then click on the Reset Configuration hotkey (Fig. 67). Confirm that you want to
reset the configuration when prompted. The reset will take a couple of seconds to complete.

When the reset is finished place the Ace of Spades in the field of view using the aimer LED's for
positioning. From the Tune menu of the Quick Setup pane click on both the Optimize Brightness
and the Optimize Focus buttons on the left side of the tune menu. Trigger the reader to read the
code; you should see something like the image below (Fig. 68).
