Parking Brake, Hydraulic Brakes

Note: Hydraulic brakes are optional. The service
brake must be properly adjusted before
attempting to adjust the parking brake.
Adjust the Service Brakes
Refer to
information regarding adjusting the service
brakes.
1: Release the park brake.
2: Loosen the clevis jam nuts on the connecting rod.
3: Loosen the connecting rod.
4: Adjust the park brake linkage so that the angle
between the connecting rod and the cross shaft
tab is at 60 degrees.
5: Tighten the connecting rod so that all slack is
removed from the brake cables, but not so much
as to actuate the brakes.
6: Tighten the jam nuts on the connecting rod and
park brake linkage.
7: Set the park brake.
8: Reconnect the main positive and negative cables
at the batteries.
9: Remove blocks from behind the wheels.
10: Release the park brake and test drive the vehicle.
