III, click the GPS button on the Button Dock. Click the Capture Polygons button in the same way new
polygons would be added to the GPS configuration. Once the editor opens, click the Export button. Copy and paste the
polygon GPS coordinates into Notepad.
Open the flight editor for the UAS and enter the GPS values from the Hyperspec
extend the boundaries by approximately 25 meters. Next, program the UAS flight path between waypoints, including both
rotation and straight flight. If using a rotary UAS make the rotation such that the sensor slit/flight direction follows the
push-broom collection method. An example is shown in the following figure.
If the UAS is a fixed wing craft, adequate distance needs to be planned between the waypoints and the scan polygon to
allow for banking turns and a return to level flight, prior to resuming data capture.
To verify that the flight path is adequate, do the following:
(1) Open the Headwall Polygon tool.
(2) Import the coordinates for the exiting, planned CAPTURE polygon.
(3) Copy the waypoint polygons into a Notepad, then copy from the Notepad, open the Import Coordinates function
for the Polygon Tool.
(4) Paste the values into the Import tool so they display in the Polygon Tool.
(5) Zoom in on the view and verify the waypoint area is greater than the scan area. If it is not, make the necessary
adjustments and recheck the values.
(6) If it is adequate, the flight plan can be used.
