12. Kentix SIM card
All AlarmManagers (from 08/2015) are shipped together with a SIM card of the Deutsche Telekom.
This card is an integral part of the Kentix360 cloud (Kentix360 cloud service chargeable). When activating the
card via the cloud configuration a startup bonus of 600 ALARM-SMS is granted.
The use of the SIM card is chargeable. The exact price can be found in Kentix360 GTC.
Activation of the card is only possible in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
It is possible to use any other SIM card with the AlarmManager.
12.1.
Setup
The SIM card comes with your AlarmManager and has to be plugged into the card holder for activation. A
description for the insertion can be found in chapter 6: „ How to open the AlarmManager chassis for inserting a
SIM card".
Activating the card is exclusively done with the Kentix ControlCenter, not via telephone support or e-mail.
For activating your Kentix360 SIM card login to your AlarmManager with the ControlCenter and open „Kentix360
Cloud" in the settings.
Login with your account data or create a new Kentix360 account. Then register your AlarmManager for the
cloud service (chargeable, charged by Kentix).
Click the tab „Kentix SIM" and enter the SIMs card number into the first field. The card number can be found on
the card holder, from which you have cut out the SIM (see also the illustration in the ControlCenter).
Finally click on the button "Activate SIM card".
Your card data is now transmitted to Kentix and the SIM card will be activated within the next 2 working days. A
message about the activation and your new telephone number and billing information will be sent to the e-mail-
address used during the Kentix360 account creation.
12.2.
Telephone number and PIN
When shipped the Kentix SIM does not have a telephone number and PIN. It can only be activated and used in
combination with an AlarmManager.
For safety reasons we recommend to enter a PIN after the insertion.
To assign a PIN open the ControlCenter and select „System" -> „SIM card" -> „Change PIN" in the menu bar.
Now enter a 4-digit PIN. Use „0000" as value for the old PIN.
Now open the settings and go to the section „E-Mail, SNMP & GSM".
Enter the telephone number of your Kentix SIM in the GSM settings.
Click „Apply" and then „Save" to upload the settings into the AlarmManager.
12.3.
SMS alarming
The SMS loaded on the Kentix SIM serve as redundant messages. When the AlarmManager is connected to
the cloud, alarms are sent as an e-mail from the Kentix360 Cloud in the first instance.
In the case that the connection between cloud and AlarmManager is interrupted, the AlarmManager will send
alarms as SMS by itself.
It is possible to send alarms as SMS in any case. This can be activated under „User accounts" in the
ControlCenter.
