Chapter Five Operation System Installation

This chapter mainly introduces manual installation of mainstream operation
system on this server. Rui Jie server kit supports intelligent automatic installation of
mainstream operation systems of Windows and Linux. Actual supported operation
systems are those in dropdown list in <Select the Operating System>, automatic
installation of these operation systems may not be supported by certain confi guration
of the server, and you may need to install operation systems of other editions manually
according to actual requirements.
During manual operation of operation system, some operation systems may need
a fl oppy drive or Inspur drive U disk to load hard disk controller drive, for methods
to make a fl oppy drive, see readme.pdf under root directory in Inspur drive CD; if the
configuration purchased is integrated with Inspur drive U disk, for the making of a
drive U disk, please see related content in this chapter.
If the server is confi gured with an external RAID card or SAS card, please refer
to electronic user manual in external RAID card or SAS card CD to add a hard disk
controller drive. As for net drive, display drive and system service pack, you could still
refer to instructions in this chapter for installation.
This installation instructs manual installation of operation system, taking 2108
SAS RAID confi guration as an example, if your server is confi gured with other external
RAID cards, please refer to user manual in CD to add hard disk controller drive, as for
net drive, display drive and system service pack, you could still refer to instructions in
this chapter for installation.
For whether the selected operation system edition is supported by the machine
purchased, confi rmation is suggested to be carried out in advance.

5.1 Inspur Drive U Disk Use Instructions

Inspur drive U disk could be recognized into analog fl oppy disk [3.5 fl oppy disk
(A:)] and normal U disk partition [UDISK PRO]. When install some operation systems
manually, you could use Inspur drive U disk to load hard disk controller drive (which
is currently supported by operation systems such as Windows XP and above, Red Hat
Linux 4.5 and above, Suse Linux 9.0 SP2 and above).
