Verifying the installation
Verifying transmitter installation tasks
After the transmitter is installed and powered up, you can verify communication between
the transmitter and the field devices on the network. Table 1 outlines the steps for
identifying and checking the transmitter on a Fieldbus network.

Table 1: Transmitter installation verification tasks
Task
Check that the device is installed in the
correct physical location.
Match the device ID with the physical
location.
The device serial number is the PROM ID
which is stamped on the transmitter
housing nameplate.
On the operator interface, check and
make sure communications are
established with the device on the
Fieldbus network.
Check that the Device Tag and node
address are set. If not, assign the Device
Tag and the correct node address.
The Device Tag and address can be set
and viewed using the Fieldbus device
configurator application. Use a Device Tag
name (up to 16 characters) that does not
contain spaces.
Using a Fieldbus configuration program,
create a function block application as part
of the device configuration and process
control strategy.
Bring the network online, verify operation,
tune loops, and so on.
