Instructions on the installation location

!
Make sure a location for installing the CCU-Modul is
chosen where
$
all safety devices and components (e.g. main airbag,
knee airbag, steering and steering linkage, pedals
and levers, shift linkage, control mechanics of blower
motors and actuators, rotating and moving parts,
parking brake lever etc.) are unimpaired in their
function
$
the CCU-Modul is not installed close to electromagnets
(speakers, blower motors, actuators etc.), as
electromagnetic radiation may interfere with the GPS
receiver of the CCU-Modul
$
the CCU-Modul is not installed close to heat
exchangers and their conduits (air conditioning,
heater etc.), as their heat may cause overheating of or
condensation on the electronics, SIM card etc.
$
that the CCU-Modul is located near the vehicle's OBD
interface or the voltage supply to be used.
$
that the CCU-Modul is not in physical contact with
the human body. Make sure to observe a minimum
distance of 5 mm to any passenger's torso.
$
that there is sufficient space for the CCU-Modul to be
installed and secured in place.
$
as to prevent the CCU-Modul or its connection cable
from touching hot components.
$
that the connection cable is not crushed or excessively
bent.
$
that any other lines or cables are not squeezed or their
functionality impaired.
$
that the housing / covers can be easily closed during
assembly.
i
Some vehicles have windshields equipped with heating
wires or metallic coatings for sun protection. In these
cases, GPS and GSM reception will likely be impaired.
Most manufacturers however leave some spots clear so
GPS technology can be added, most often above the
center of the dashboard or behind the rearview mirror.
i
Install the component on an even surface without raised
parts such as screws, struts etc. If that is not possible,
use the casing to provide added protection for the
component. Apply double-sided adhesive tape between
the component and the casing.

Installing the CCU-Modul
!
To prevent faults, commissioning must always be carried
out in the order described here.
Prerequisites:
R
OBD device or repair shop diagnostic tool for reading and
deleting the fault memory.
R
The vehicle battery has a normal charge of approximately
12 V at rest.
1. Locate the OBD interface inside the vehicle (see
ESI[tronic], follow instructions from the vehicle
manufacturer or relevant internet forums).
2. Using the OBD device or repair shop diagnostic tool, read
and erase the vehicle's fault memory (even if no fault has
been generated!).
3. Disconnect the OBD device or repair shop diagnostic tool.
4. Select a suitable location for installation near the OBD
interface or near the voltage supply to be used.
5. Remove the housing / cover inside the vehicle (see the
vehicle manufacturer's installation instructions).
6. Run the connection cable in such a way that any other
components' functionality (such as steering, transmission,
pedals) remains unimpaired.
!
If a control unit or cable to another control unit is
unplugged during installation, the fault memory must be
checked following installation of the CCU-Modul and any
active faults erased.
7. Carefully open the cover lid on the CCU-Modul (e.g. using
a screwdriver).
