When an initiating device (detector, XP5-M or other monitor module) activates, the
control panel indicates a fire alarm. Figure 6 shows how the control panel indicates a
fire alarm:

When an initiating device activates a fire alarm, the control panel does the following:
•
Produces a steady audible tone
•
Activates the System Alarm relay (MPS-6, TB3) and flashes the
•
Displays a Type Code that indicates the type of device that activates the fire alarm
•
Displays
in the status banner on the LCD display, along with information
ALARM
specific to the device, as shown in Figure 7

Sends an Alarm message to the LCD display, History buffer, and installed printers,
terminal mode LCD-80s, and CRT-2s
•
Latches the control panel in alarm. (You cannot return the control panel to normal
operation until you correct the alarm condition and reset the control panel)
•
Initiates any Control-By-Event actions
•
Starts timers (such as Silence Inhibit, Auto Silence)
•
Activates the general alarm zone (Z00)
