51 MARQUIS: HEIGHT OF CUT ADJUSTMENT________________________

The cutting height is determined by the postion of the
front rolls in relation to the bottom blade, variation of
this height is made by adjusting the front roll. a range
of cut between 6mm and 27mm can be achieved with
the adjustments explained below.
The height of cut bar [A] (Fig. 8.1a) is used to
accurately set the height of cut. The bolt in the height
of cut bar is positioned so that the head of the bolt is
hooked over the lip of the bottom blade. The bar rests
against both the front [C] and the rear [B] rolls.
The measured hieght of cut would be from the
underside of the head of the bolt to the surface of the setting bar.
It is important when using the bar to set the bolt to the desired height of cut first and then to try to position
it over the lip of the bottom blade. If it does not fit snugly, the front roll will require adjustment.
This procedure should be carried out at both ends of the bottom blade in order to set it parallel to the rear
landroll.
Pull out the pin [A] (Fig. 8.1b) on both sides of the
machine and replace it in one of the other 3 holes
(coarse adjustment).
Placing the pin in the hole towards the front of the
machine will increase the height of cut and towards the
back of the machine will lower the hieght of cut.
For fine adjustment the screw [B] should be turned.

61 MARQUIS: HEIGHT OF CUT ADJUSTMENT_________________________
The height variation is made by adjusting the front roll
by means of a handwheel [C].
To raise the height of cut, the roll has to be lowered
and
this is achieved by turning the handwheel clockwise.
To lower the height of cut, the roll has to be raised.
Turn
the handwheel antoclockwise.
To ensure that the height of cut is set correctly, tilt the
machine back and place a straight edge across the
front and rear rolls. The gap between the bottom blade
cutting surface and the straight edge should not be
1
less than 6mm (
/
in).

Check the setting at both ends of the bottom blade.
NOTE: The front roll should never be set so that the bottom blade is pressing on the turf; this will damage
