INSTALLATION
3.1

Installation regulations

Installation must be carried out by qualified personnel, in accordance
with the regulations in law.
POSITION
The boiler can be installed indoor and outdoor, in a partially protected
place (i.e. a place where the boiler is not exposed to direct contact or
infiltration of rain, snow or hail). The boiler can operate in a temperature
range from -3°C to +60°C. For further details, refer to "Anti-freeze
system" section.
ANTI-FREEZE SYSTEM
The boiler is fitted as standard with an automatic anti-freeze system
that actives when the water temperature in the primary circuit falls
below 5°C. This system is always active, guaranteeing boiler protection
down to an installation area temperature of -3°C.
To take advantage of this protection, based on the burner operation,
the boiler must be able to switch itself on; any lockout condition (i.e.
due to a lack of gas or electrical supply, or the intervention of a safety
device) therefore deactivates the protection.
By using a specific accessory, the DHW circuit can be protected in case
of temperatures lower than -3°C up to -10°C. This system is made by a
series of electrical resistances.
To use the anti-freeze protection, an electrical supply is required;
this means that any blackout or disconnection will deactivate
the protection. The anti-freeze protection is also active when the
boiler is on stand-by.
In normal operation conditions, the boiler can protect itself
against freezing.
In areas where temperatures may fall below 0°C, or when the machine
is left unpowered for long periods, you are advised to use a good quality
anti-freeze liquid in the primary circuit to avoid the risk of freezing if you
do not want to drain the heating system.
Carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions with regards not
only the percentage of anti-freeze liquid to be used for the minimum
temperature at which you want to keep the machine circuit, but also
the duration and disposal of the liquid itself. For the hot domestic
water part, we recommend you drain the circuit. The boiler component
materials are resistant to ethylene glycol based anti-freeze liquids. Anti-
freeze kits and upper cover kits are also available for boilers installed
outdoors in a partially protected place.
MINIMUM DISTANCES
In order to have access to the boiler to perform regular maintenance
operations, respect the minimum spaces foreseen for installation (fig. 9).
For correct appliance positioning, bear in mind that:
- it must not be placed above a cooker or other cooking device
- it is forbidden to leave inflammable products in the room where the
boiler is installed
- heat-sensitive walls (e.g. wooden walls) must be protected with
proper insulation.
IMPORTANT
Before installation, wash all system piping carefully in order to remove
any residues that may impair the operation of the appliance. Connect
the discharge manifold to a suitable discharge system (for details, refer
to paragraph 3.7). The domestic hot water circuit does not need a safety
valve, but make sure that the pressure of waterworks does not exceed
6 bar. Ii in doubt, install a pressure reducer. Prior to ignition, make
sure that the boiler is designed to operate with the gas available; this
can be checked by the wording on the packaging and by the adhesive
label indicating the gas type. It is very important to highlight that in
some cases the smoke pipes are under pressure and therefore, the
connections of several elements must be airtight.
3.2
Cleaning the system/characteristics of the
heating circuit water
In the case of a new installation or replacement of the boiler, it is
necessary to clean the heating system. To ensure the device works
well, top up the additives and/or chemical treatments (e.g. anti-freeze
liquids, filming agents, etc.) and check the parameters in the table are
within the values indicated.

Securing the wall-mounted boiler and hydraulic
connections
The boiler is supplied with a paper template that allows to make the
hydraulic and system connections without overall dimensions of the boiler
(fig. 10). The position and dimension of hydraulic fittings are shown in
the detail drawing.
In case of installation of the "Condense neutralizer tray" kit, before pro-
ceeding to position the boiler, provide the necessary space (see fig. 11).
For the assembly, proceed as follows:
- secure the boiler paper template to the wall and use a spirit level to
make sure that everything is perfectly horizontal, if necessary provide
a thickness
- mark the holes envisaged for securing the boiler
- put of the paper template and drill the wall using drill tips with appropriate
diameters
- hang the boiler
- make the hydraulic connections.
The operations to install the boiler and connect it to the water and gas
supplies are now complete.
The position and size of the hydraulic connections are indicated below

Electrical wiring

The boilers leave the factory fully wired, with the power cable already
connected. They require only the connection of the ambient thermostat
(TA) to the specific terminals (fig. 6).
To access the terminal board:
- set the main system switch to OFF
- loosen the screws (A) that hold the housing in place (fig. 14)
- unscrew the screw (B) that secures the control panel
- rotate the control panel towards you
- remove the terminal board cover (fig. 15)
The room thermostat must be connected as shown on the electrical
diagram.
Ambient thermostat input in safety low voltage (24V DC).
The connection to the mains supply must be made via a separation
device with an omnipolar opening of at least 3.5mm (EN 60335-
1, category III). The appliance works with alternating current at 230
Volt/50 Hz, and complies with Standard EN 60335-1.
It is compulsory to carry out connection with an efficient earth
circuit, according to national and local legislation.
It is advisable to comply with neutral phase connection (L-N).
The earth wire must be a couple of centimetres longer than the
others.
It is forbidden to use gas and/or water pipes to earth electrical
appliances.
The manufacturer declines liability for any damage if the appliance was
not connected to an earth circuit.
If the power cable is replaced, use a cable of the HAR H05V2V2-F
type, 3 x 0.75mm
2
, with max. outside diameter 7mm.
3.6
Gas connection
Before connecting the appliance to the gas network, check that:
- national and local regulations are complied
- the gas type is appropriate for the appliance
- the piping is clean.
The gas pipe must be installed outdoors. If the pipe has to pass through
the wall, it must pass through the central opening in the lower part of
the template. It is advisable to install a filter of suitable dimensions on
the gas line if the distribution network contains solid particles. Once
the appliance has been installed check that connections are sealed
according to current installation regulations.
