Shunt Trip With Lockout

The shunt trip with lockout is similar to the regular shunt trip.
When energized. the sh unt trip with lockout module sends a
signal to the trip u nit to open the breaker. I n addition. when
continuously energized with the breaker open. a plunger in
the module acts upon the mechanism. blocking manual and
electric closing by preventing mechanism spring discharge.
To close the breaker, de-energize the module for 250 ms. Be
cause the b reaker mova ble contacts o re restra ined and can
not momentarily touch the stationary contacts. the mecha
nism remains "kiss-free". This feature is especially i m portant
in main-tie-main schemes or generator circuits.

Bell Alarm (Ala rm Only)
The bell alarm module is used to signal breaker "tripped" sta
tus to other a ccessories (e.g. externa l alarm devices. indicat
ing lig hts. relays, or logic circuits) for remote ind ication a n d
interlocking functions. T h e switch is config urable b y means
of rear-mounted DIP switches on the M icroVersaTrip Pl us™
and PM™ trip u nits. The bell a l a rm can be made to oper-
ate in response to an overcurrent ( including g round fau lt) or
p rotective relay trip and/or a shunt trip operation. and/or
operation of the undervoltage release module. It is not actu
ated as a result of normal breaker "ON/OFF' operation. For
the Power+™ trip unit, the bell alarm operates only when an
overcurrent (including g round fault) trip occurs.
This module p rovides a visual. mechanical pop-out target
wh ich protrudes through the face of the circuit breaker door
when it operates. The bell alarm may be reset manually by
depressing the mechanica l target, or automatical ly by clos
ing the b reaker.
The bell alarm is p rovided with one SPOT switch with control
power duty contacts as shown in Table 27.2.
