Enabling the DHCPv6 server to advertise IPv6
prefixes
A DHCPv6 client can obtain an IPv6 prefix through DHCPv6 and use the IPv6 prefix for IPv6 address
assignment in a downstream network. If the IPv6 prefix is in a different subnet than the IPv6 address
of the DHCPv6 client's upstream interface, the downstream network cannot access the external
network. If the DHCPv6 server is on the same link as the DHCPv6 client, enable the DHCPv6 server
to advertise the IPv6 prefix.
To enable the DHCPv6 server to advertise IPv6 prefixes:
Step
1.
Enter system view.
2.
Enable the DHCPv6 server
to advertise IPv6 prefixes.

Enabling DHCPv6 logging on the DHCPv6 server

The DHCPv6 logging feature enables the DHCPv6 server to generate DHCPv6 logs and send them
to the information center. For information about the log destination and output rule configuration in
the information center, see Network Management and Monitoring Configuration Guide.
As a best practice, disable this feature if the log generation affects the device performance or
reduces the address and prefix allocation efficiency. For example, this situation might occur when a
large number of clients frequently come online or go offline.
To configure DHCPv6 logging on the DHCPv6 server:
Step
1.
Enter system view.
2.
Enable DHCPv6 logging.
