4. Problem Solver

PROBLEM
The LED's on the front panel don't
light up.
No signal (orange LED off).
No sound or image.
The remote control doesn't work

PROBABLE CAUSE
The receiver is not plugged into
the mains.
The antenna cable
connected to the receiver.
The antenna plant is damaged.
The plant is not compatible.
The receiver is in standby.
The TV scart cable
connected properly or the TV is not
on AV.
The television is turned off or
tuned into the wrong channel.
The channel you are trying to see
is out of date or coded
Flat batteries or no batteries
The batteries are inserted with
their polarities the wrong way
Make sure the mains lead is
properly plugged in.
is not Make sure the parabolic antenna
cable is properly connected to the
receiver.
Check the plant is in working order
(parabola orientation, condition of
antenna cable, commuter and LNB
efficiency).
It would be best to have the plant
check by a antenna specialist.
Check the type of satellite plant
(single or dual feed, switch, IF IF). If
in doubt contact the installer.
Turn on the receiver.

connected or tune in the TV to the
correct AV channel.
Turn on the TV and/or select the
right channel (e.g. A/V)
Change channel
Insert new batteries
Check the polarity of the batteries
(check the indications inside the
battery compartment)
