AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANUAL

AUXILIARY FUEL PUMP

The electrically powered auxiliary fuel
pump is installed under the left side of the
aircraft cockpit aft of the fuel header tank.
A two-position switch labeled AUX FUEL
PUMP on the start panel controls this
pump.
The
pump
displacement vane type with a balanced-
type relief valve, and provides a fuel
pressure of 20 ± 1psi. This pump provides
positive fuel pressure for engine starting
and may be used for continuous engine
operation in the event of engine-driven fuel
pump
failure.

AUXILIARY FUEL PUMP REMOVAL

A. Close fuel shutoff valve. Remove drain
plug and drain the aux pump.
B. Disconnect electrical connector from
pump motor.
C. Remove hoses from pump and cap
hoses.

AUXILIARY FUEL PUMP INSTALLATION

A. Install pump to support brackets and
tighten hardware.
B. Connect hoses to pump. Be sure inlet
and
outlet
hoses
correctly.
C. Open fuel shutoff valve.
D. Connect electrical connector to pump
motor.
E. Operate fuel pump and check for fuel
leaks at lines and fittings.

FUEL STRAINER

The main fuel filter is installed on the
forward left side of the firewall. The fuel
strainer in the filter should be removed,
inspected and cleaned every 100 hours of
operation or sooner if improper fuel
circulation is suspected. (See Figure 5-1)
