FUEL QUANTITY INDICATOR
PROBABLE CAUSE
Fuel tanks empty
No power to indicator.
(Pointer stays below E).
Grounded wire. (Pointer
stays above F).
Low voltage
Defective indicator
Defective sending unit
Float arm stuck
Defective indicator
Low voltage
ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE GAUGE
Defective indicator or
temperature probe
Grounded wire
No power to indicator or
defective instrument or
temperature probe
REMEDY
Check fuel quantity. Service with proper
grade and amount of fuel.
Check circuit breaker. Inspect for open
circuit. Reset breaker, repair or replace
defective wire.
Check for partial ground between
transmitter and indicator. Repair or
replace defective wire.
Check voltage at indicator. Correct
voltage.
Substitute known-good indicator.
Replace indicator.
Replace sending unit
Free float arm.
Substitute known-good indicator.
Replace indicator.
Check voltage at indicator. Correct
voltage.
Replace instrument or temperature
probe (one at a time).
Check for partial ground between
temperature probe and indicator. Repair
or replace defective wire.
Check circuit breaker. Inspect for open
circuit. Reset breaker. Repair or
replace instrument or temperature
probe.
