2. Cabling
Uplink GigE Connectors
There are two UPLINK GigE connectors on the unit. Only one can be active. For
the wire connection, either a straight-through or a crossover cable can be used.
The wiring is automatically detected and, if necessary, compensated for.
Procedure
To connect to an Ethernet switch:

1. Determine the interface type, and procure the appropriate copper cable, or
fiber optic cable and SFP transceiver.
2. For a wire connection, plug the 8-position modular plug into the UPLINK
GigE modular jack.

3. For a fiber connection, plug your transceiver into the UPLINK GigE SFP
socket. Plug your fiber optic cable into the cable socket of the transceiver.

4. Connect the other end of the cable to the Ethernet switch.
