Preauthorization Menu

NOTE : Optional function reserved for hotel and rental businesses.
IMPORTANT
In order to minimize chargebacks, please take note of the following:
- In the case of a chip card, the card must be present and the PIN must be entered to process the
preauthorization.
- In the case of a hotel reservation or a rental, a preauthorization is valid for the entire stay. If the
stay is longer than two weeks, it is recommended that the customer file be closed and a new
invoice be issued.
Preauthorization transactions are stored on the terminal that was used to enter them. The transactions
are stored until completion, or for a maximum of 15 days.
It is suggested that the transaction be completed on the same terminal that was used to do the
preauthorization. Otherwise, if the card is not present, the transaction will be processed as a
manual transaction and thus will not offer the same benefits as an electronic transaction.
Preauthorization
This function enables the merchant to obtain one or several consecutive authorizations until the final
transaction amount is known. The merchant can thus confirm that the funds are available in the
cardholder's account.
The preauthorization is stored in the terminal in which it was entered. The transaction must be completed
using the Completion option in the "Preauthorization" menu, in order to be included in the merchant deposit.
Each authorization freezes the preauthorized amount in the cardholder's account for a period determined
by the card issuer.
