Using Printer with Direct Connection

Direct connection allows you to print by connecting the printer to a device such as a smartphone or tablet via
wireless connection in an environment where a wireless router is not available. In addition, you can connect
the printer to a device without a wireless router even where it is available.
This section describes following operations for direct connection.
• Changing settings of the printer and device and connecting them wirelessly

Changing Direct Connection Setting
Important
• This setting item is for the administrator. The administrator password is required to change settings.
• Before using the printer with the direct connection, check the usage restrictions and switch the printer to
the direct connection.

Make sure printer is turned on.
2. Select
LCD and Operation Panel
If you specify the administrator password, enter the password.
3. Use
button to select Change LAN and press OK button.
4. Use
button to select Activate direct connect. and press OK button.
5. Use
button to select Yes and press OK button.
The identifier (SSID) for direct connection appears.
When a device detects the printer, the device detects the printer by the identifier (SSID).
