WS5000 Series Switch Troubleshooting Guide

2.2.20 restore

This loads a saved configuration or image file and overwrites the active configuration or image on the switch
(standby configuration when loaded on the Standby switch). After the file has been selected, the switch
reboots and loads the saved configuration or image file.
A configuration file is a file that contains the WS5000 Series Switch configuration and ends with the .cfg
extension. A system image file ends with the sys.img extension. The Standby file for the Standby switch is a
.cfg type file.
Syntax
restore <restore_option> <filename>
Parameters
restore_option
filename
Example
SM-WS5000>restore config siteconfig.cfg
This command will reset the system and boot up with the new configuration.

2.2.21 save

Saves the switch configuration to a file.
Syntax
save configuration <file_name>
Parameters
configuration <file_name>
The type of restore to be invoked. image or configuration that you want to restore. One
of:
• system – Restores the system image and configuration from the specified file.
• configuration – Restores the configuration from the specified file.
• standby – Restores the standby configuration from the specified file.
The new system image or configuration file to be restored.
