Note: If the BATTERYINFO command is not available, the customer should Apply V5R2 PTF
MF29353 or it's supersede, or V5R1 PTF MF28981 or it's supersede, and then restart this procedure.
7. Remove the card using the concurrent card remove and replace procedure for the model or FC that
you are working on. See the Remove and replace procedures.
Note: If the concurrent card remove and replace procedure fails, then power the system down
normally prior to replacing the cache battery pack. See Power on/off the system and logical partitions.
8. Choose from the following options:
v For type 2748, 2763, 2778, 2782, 5703, continue with the next step.
v For type 2757, go to step 14 (See page 204).
9. Locate the casing A that holds the battery pack. See either Figure 1. Cache battery pack and cache
directory card for type 2748, 2763, and 2778 (See page 205) below, or Figure 3. Cache battery pack
and cache directory card for type 2782, 5703 (See page 205) below.
10. Squeeze the casing A to remove battery unit from the card.
11. Remove the plug that connects the battery unit and the card.
Note: The plug fits in the board only one way so it cannot be inserted incorrectly during the
replacement phase.
12. Remove the battery unit from the battery casing. Save the battery casing. The replacement battery
pack will not come equipped with a casing.
Note: Ensure that the cache battery pack is disconnected for at least 15 seconds before connecting
the new battery. This is the minimum amount of time needed for the card to recognize that the battery
has been replaced.
13. Install the new cache battery pack by reversing this procedure.
This ends the procedure.
14. For type 2757, locate the battery pack A. See Figure 2. Cache battery pack and cache directory card
for type 2757 (See page 205).
15. Remove the plug that connects the battery unit and the card by pushing down on the latching
mechanism and pulling the plug out of the connector.
Note: The plug fits in the connector only one way so it cannot be inserted incorrectly during the
replacement phase.
16. There are two pegs holding the battery pack in place. For each of these pegs, squeeze the peg and
push it so that it comes out on the other side of the card. Then remove the cache battery pack.
Note: Ensure that the cache battery pack is disconnected for at least 15 seconds before connecting
the new battery. This is the minimum amount of time needed for the card to recognize that the battery
has been replaced.
17. Install the new cache battery pack by reversing the procedure.
This ends the procedure.
