• Cannot be used in other than exFAT mode.
• Do not use SDXC cards with other memory cards at
the same time. If different types of media are used, the
camcorder cannot switch between media during
recording when one media becomes full.
• Recording in XAVC-I or normal recording when
shooting using Slow & Quick Motion may not be
supported, depending on the SDXC cards used. The
use of SxS memory cards is recommended.
• SDXC cards recorded using PMW-series or PXW-
series camcorders may not be supported for recording
or playback with the camcorder, depending on the
device.

Formatting
When you use an SD card with this camcorder for
the first time, formatting is required.
An SD card to be used with this camcorder must
be formatted using the format function of this
camcorder.
It is also necessary to format an SD card for use if
a caution message is displayed when you mount
the SD card.
For an SD card that was formatted with another
system unsupported by this camcorder, the
message "Unsupported File System" is displayed
on the viewfinder screen.
Format the SD card as instructed below.
To format (initialize) a memory card
Select "Media(A)" (slot A) or "Media(B)" (slot
B) on "OPERATION" > "Format Media" in the
setup menu, and select "Execute."
During execution, a progress indication appears
(%), and the ACCESS lamp lights in orange.
When formatting is completed, a completion
message is displayed for three seconds.
Note
In formatting, all data in an SD card, including protected
images, are erased and cannot be restored.
Connection between the camcorder and a
computer
To use an SD card in which data have been
recorded with an XDCAM/XDCAM EX-series
product, establish USB connection between the
computer and this camcorder and insert it into the
slot of the camcorder, or use a specified USB card
reader SBAC-US20.
To use media formatted with this camcorder in
the slots of other devices
Make a backup of the media, then format it using
the other device.
