STARTER INTERLOCK AND ELECTRICAL SWITCHES 1.21
GENERAL
Lubricate sidestand with LOCTITE LUBRIPLATE or LITHIUM
GREASE:
●
At every 5,000 mile (8,000 km) service interval.
Inspect all electrical equipment and switches, including
starter interlock for proper operation:
●
At the 1,000 mile (1,600 km) initial service and every
2,500 mile (4,000 km) service interval thereafter.
TESTING INTERLOCK
The starter/ignition interlock system is designed to prevent
unintended start-up and/or forward motion of the motorcycle.
One of three conditions must exist to allow operation of the
vehicle:

Clutch disengaged (lever pulled in - must be done
whenever starting motorcycle).
●
Transmission in Neutral
●
Sidestand retracted
If the motorcycle starts and operates without any of the three
conditions being met, see
7.11 STARTER/IGNITION INTER-
LOCK, for troubleshooting procedures.
TESTING SWITCHES
Check the following electric switches for proper operation:
●
Left and Right directional signals and dash indicator.
●
Neutral indicator Light on dash
●
Headlamp low and high beam, high beam flash and high
beam indicator light
●
Oil Pressure Indicator Light
●
Odometer reset switch
●
Tail lamp
●
Brake lamp with both front and rear brake application
●
Speedometer
●
Horn
●
Ignition stop/run switch
●
Electric starter switch
