Service and Maintenance
CAUTION
Incorrect wheel nuts or improp-
erly tightened wheel nuts can
cause the wheel to become
loose and even come off. This
could lead to an accident. Be
sure to use the correct wheel
nuts.
NOTICE
Improperly tightened wheel
nuts can lead to brake pulsation
and rotor damage. To avoid
expensive brake repairs, evenly
tighten the wheel nuts in the
proper sequence and to the
proper torque specification.
See "Specifications and Capaci-
ties" later in this section for the
proper wheel nut torque.

Tire Replacement

The rubber in your vehicle's tires
degrades over time. This is also
true for the spare tire (if
equipped), even if it is not being
used. Various factors affect how
quickly rubber degrades. Driving
speeds, road conditions, tempera-
tures, vehicle loading, and infla-
tion pressure maintenance all
affect how the tires on your vehicle
age.
If maintained properly according
to the maintenance schedule, the
tires on your vehicle will most
likely require replacement before
they become degraded due to
age.
A
Your tires have tread wear
indicators
. They tell you when a
tire has 1.6 mm (1/16 inch) or less
of tread left.
