Under some driving condi-
tions, including those listed
below, it is normal for the tem-
perature to rise above the usu-
al operating range and
approach 122°C (250°F):
- stop and go driving in heavy
traffic
- high speed operation in
warm weather
- uphill driving
- trailer towing or hauling a
heavy load
You may see the reading fluc-
tuate. This is normal.
If the pointer reaches 125°C
(260°F) and remains there for
more than 30 seconds, the en-
gine coolant has overheated.
The vehicle is also equipped
with an engine coolant tem-
perature warning light. If this
light illuminates, the engine is
too warm. If the light remains
illuminated for 30 seconds, the
engine coolant has overheat-
ed. See "Engine Coolant Tem-
perature Light" under
"Warning Lights" later in this
section.
If the engine coolant has over-
heated, pull over and stop the
vehicle as soon as it is safe to
do so. Then, turn the engine
off immediately.
See Sections 4 and 5 for more
information on your vehicle's
cooling system.
