Add Water To proper Level
1 . Charge For 15 Min.

Flame Arrestor Caps In Place
2. Connect 300 Amp Load For 15 Sec.
- Proceed To Step 2
50 Points Or More Variation
Between Highest And Lowest Cell
Replace Battery
Specific Gravity Of Lowest Cell
(Temperature Corrected)*
1 .200 Or More
Battery Satisfactorily Charged
Proceed To Step 3
If Unable To Obtain Specific Gravity Of
1 .200 Or More (Temperature Corrected)
In All
Cells -
Replace Battery
Less Than Voltage On Chart 1
Replace Battery
NOTE : Chart No . 1 is in "Specifications."
BATTERY TEST PROCEDURE
STEP 1 - VISUAL INSPECTION
Check For Obvious Damage Such As A Cracked
Or Broken Case That Shows Loss Of Electrolyte
STEP 3 - BATTERY LOAD TEST
Charge Battery, If Necessary, Until All
Cells Are At Least 1 .200 Specific Gravity
Same As Or Greater Than
Voltage On Chart 1
No Obvious Damage
Check Electrolyte Level
Electrolyte Level Above Top Of Plates
In All Cells - Proceed To Step 2
Less Than 50 Points Variation
Between Highest And Lowest Cell
* For temperature correction refer to "Specific Gravity Readings" earlier in this section.
Specific Gravity Of Lowest Cell
(Temperature Corrected)*
Less Than 1 .200
Battery Required Charging
Proceed To Step 3
Specific Gravity Of 1.200 Or More
(Temperature Corrected)*
In All Cells - Remove Vent Caps
Connect 300 Amp Load For 15 Sec.
"No Smoke"
1 . Place Thermometer In One Cell
2. Apply Specified Load From Specifications
3. Read Voltage At 15 Seconds With Load Connected
4. Remove Load And Read Electrolyte Temperature, Then
Compare Temperature And Voltage Readings With Chart 1
Fully Charge, Clean, And
Return Battery To Service
