Press and hold
3 to 4 seconds.
When
beeping tone sounds. If pressed continuously for
3 to 4 seconds, the beeping tone changes from
intermittent to continuous, and distress message
is transmitted.
If suspend pressing
intermittent beeping tone, distress message is not
transmitted.
"DISTRESS CALL" indication on LCD flashes
while intermittent beeping tone. If the key is
pressed continuously for 3 to 4 seconds, the
flashing "DISTRESS CALL" indication becomes
steady, and distress message is transmitted.
TIP
• A distress call has priority over all other operations.
• The distress message is transmitted 5 times consecutively, and then in random intervals of 3.5 to 4.5
minutes until it is acknowledged.
• When a navigation aid is connected, position and time data are added automatically to the distress
message.
• When no navigation aid is connected, the position and time data is transmitted as dummy data.
• When a printer is connected, the distress message is automatically printed out.
• Standby reception is carried out on CH16 during 3.5 min. to 4.5 min. pause between distress calls.
The DSC CH70 answer is received on the DSC Watchkeeping Receiver.
Press
