Both topcoat and patch overlays can be clear or can have a transparent holographic image on
them. The holographic materials are called holographic topcoat or holographic patch and can be
ordered with a custom image.
In addition, both holographic topcoat and holographic patch can be designed with a registered
image that is located in the same position on each card. Registered holographic topcoat has a
registration mark so that the image can be aligned with the card. Refer to the printer's
Installation and Administrator's Guide for information on ordering overlay material.
Registered Holographic Patch
If you use a custom holographic overlay, make sure that you know the location of
important card features, such as photos and logos. Do not place holographic images
where they interfere with the appearance of photos or machine‐readable features.
