IPedge Enterprise Manager allows access to all of nodes in a network
from a single login at a central terminal.
A Single Point of Management offers the user a convenient, single
location of entrance or a web site which makes accessible all the
functions of management of all parts of the IPedge system, Enterprise or
Single Site, including nodes, branches, application servers, and media
gateways. Without this capability, a user must visit each part of the
system individually. This is a prerequisite of Centralized Management.
The Centralized Management organizes the information of all parts of a
system, and presents it to the user as a whole for viewing and
modification. Information is presented in one group instead of being
divided by node boundary. When a change is made to node that requires
a changes in the other node, that change is carried to the other nodes
without user intervention.
For example; When a new network Directory Number is added to a node
in a networked system, that DN is added to all of the other nodes. The
administrator does not have to login to each of the other nodes to add the
DN.
For Enterprise Systems, Enterprise Manager collects, organizes and
presents configuration and maintenance data from multiple nodes or
branches as a single data set. The Enterprise Manager user is not forced
to collect data of the same type from individual nodes or branches nor
must the user be asked to discard data from one node in order to collect
and view data from another node.
Primary Enterprise Manager is the instance of Enterprise Manager Server
that is active and has the access and the rights to manage all nodes in the
Enterprise System. Every IPedge Server in an Enterprise System runs an
instance of the Enterprise Manager Server. During normal operations,
only the Primary Enterprise Manager can change the Call Processor
information of any node.
Every Member node has Enterprise Manager resident. It is inactive and
has no access to any other nodes. In the event of Primary Enterprise
Manager Server failure, the user may reconfigure the entire network
topology and assign a Member Enterprise Manager Server as the new
Primary server.
A node or branch in an Enterprise System is detached when it has lost
connection with or not reachable from the Primary Enterprise Manager
Server. A Member Node can be detached manually by a Enterprise
Manager User from its primary node or locally. In the Detached Mode,
Enterprise Manager allows the user to perform all management functions
no less than that of Enterprise Manager in a Stand-Alone System. The
detached node acts as a Stand-Alone System. A Detached Node can be
re-attached to its Enterprise System. If the detached node is part of an
IPedge Net enterprise, the calls over the network are still processed. Only
the administrative functions and database backup are disrupted.
