Engine error codes
During normal operation the top line of the two-line display indicates the ink
level of each color. The bottom line indicates the printer's status by displaying a
message. The front panel messages consist of two parts. The first part describes
the general state of the machine, such as Ready, Printing, Busy, or Stopped. The
second part describes in more detail what the printer is doing or what action is
required by the customer to maintain the printer.
There are many second part messages for each engine state. For example, the
printer could say:
Busy--Cleaning head
or
Busy--Test print
The front panel also displays error codes when it encounters certain system
failures. These error codes are listed in the next topic.
SYSTEM FAILURE XXX
unable to function. The printer detected an internal problem causing it to shut
down and display an error code on the front panel. All engine heaters are
turned off and all mechanical systems are disabled.
XXX represents one of the following a numeric codes relating to the cause of the
last detected failure.
