WARNING: Pulse oximetry readings and pulse signal
can be affected by ambient conditions, O
application errors, and patient conditions.
WARNING: Tissue damage can be caused by
incorrect application or inappropriate duration of use
of an SpO
site as directed in the O
use.
WARNING: Use only Nellcor-approved O
sensors and extension cables. Do not use cables more
than 4 feet in length. Use only the DEC-4 extension
cable or only the O
Inaccurate measurements can be caused by:
•
incorrect application of the O
•
placement of the O
with a blood pressure cuff, arterial catheter, or
intravascular line
•
excessive patient activity
•
intravascular dyes, such as indocyanine green or
methylene blue
•
externally applied coloring, such as nail polish or
pigmented cream
•
failure to cover the O
material in high ambient light conditions
•
venous pulsation
•
