Byte 2 contains the I/O opcode supplied by the
applications program. For normal read or write
operations, the I/O opcodes are 2 and 3; for
requests from activation services, I/O opcodes
range from 4 through 7. I/O opcodes greater than 7
are privileged codes reserved for use by the
communications package software.
