General
Use the General dialogue to define the basic settings for the selected answering
machine.
Recording calls
Quality: You can choose between high quality and long recording. Long recording
gives you a total recording time of about 30 minutes, high quality reduces the
recording time to about 12 minutes.
Message length: You can choose whether a caller can leave a 1- minute, 2- minute
or 3- minute message. With the Maximum option you leave the entire memory free
for recording a message. Recording ends when the caller hangs up or the answering
machine runs out of memory.
Time stamp: Choose whether you want the date and time of the message to be
announced when you play it.
Automatic pause: Choose this function if you want the answering machine to
switch to pause mode automatically after playing back a message. If no other action
occurs within 60 seconds, the connection to the answering machine is cut. The
answering machine goes back to idle status.
Playback speed: Select the playback speed for listening to the recorded messages.
Number of ringer tones: Select the number of ringer tones after which the answer-
ing machine should record an incoming call. If you select the auto 2/4 option, the
answering machine takes a call after the fourth ringer tone. If a new message has
been recorded, the reaction time is cut to two ringer tones. This option enables you
to avoid unnecessary connection charges with remote access: Cancel the remote
access call as soon as you hear the third ringer tone, because your answering
machine would have responded after the second one if it had recorded any mes-
sages.
Remote access
Internal access
With this option activated, you have to enter the answering machine PIN before you
can switch it on/off or change its settings. This option is only available, if the answer-
ing machine PIN has been changed from the 0000 factory setting to a value that is
not 0000.
External access
Remote operation on: The answering machine can be operated remotely via the
telephone.
Remote delete on: Recorded messages can be deleted during remote access.
!
Change the answering machine PIN before allowing remote access.
Automatic listen in
Activate this function if you want to listen to messages on a handset while they are
being recorded. You can select a separate handset for each answering machine. This
assumes that the handsets have the auto answer and handsfree functions.
