2.
Using the ServeRAID Manager or options CD, make sure that the Channel Record
Table contains the correct information for the status of all drives, not just those
listed in the RAID log.
3.
Using the ServeRAID Manager or Options CD, select the last drive listed in the
Defunct Drive log. This drive will have the most recent time stamp, and is the last
drive to be marked Defunct. Right-click on the drive and choose "Set Drive State
to Online."
Important: You must recover the drives at the bottom of the log first so that the
information from them can be used to rebuild the original drive that
failed--that is, the "inconsistent" drive. If you do not replace the
"inconsistent" drive last, the system uses it to rebuild the last drive
that went defunct, and data can be corrupted as a result. Therefore, it
is extremely important to perform steps 2 and 3 carefully!
4.
Repeat step 3 for each drive, beginning at the bottom of the log and moving to the
top.
5.
Once you have set all but the last drive (first to go Defunct in the log and in time)
to ONLine, you will have to Rebuild the last drive. Follow "Recovery procedures
for one defunct drive" on page 190.
Make photocopies of this table and fill out a copy for each system you service.
Provide it to the customer to keep with the records of the system configuration.
