This section explains how to change the settings of the positioning conditions.
You can change the following settings:
Geodetic System: Select the appropriate Geodetic System used to display latitude
and longitude. To determine the Geodetic System used in your area, see "Table of
Geodetic Systems" on page 84. Default setting is "WGS84."
Maximum DOP Vaiue: Set acquired position accuracy. The smaller the value is.
the higher the position accuracy becomes.
The unit updates data if the accuracy of the acquired data is higher than the
accuracy set in this option.
To use the accurate data, set this option to "1 ~ 4." When set to "1 ~12," the unit
uses the data that are acquired in poor reception conditions. Default setting is "1 ~
12."
"Bearing: Set true or magnetic bearing (manual or automatic). When set to Manual
Magnetic, enter the magnetic variation. The magnetic bearing may be different from
the display of compass, etc. Default setting is "Auto."
Bearing Calculation: Set the calculation system for bearing and distance to Great
Circle or Rhumb Line. Great Circle represents the shortest distance between two
points on surface of sphere. Rhumb Line represents the line cutting all meridians at
the same angle, or the line followed by a ship sailing in a fixed direction. Values for
each setting are almost the same except for long distance travel such as crossing a
continent or the Pacific Ocean, or the destination is in high latitude. Default setting is
"Rhumb Line."
Unit of Position: Select latitude and longitude display: DMS (degrees/minutes/
seconds) or DMD (degrees/minutes: minutes in decimal). Default setting is "DMD."
Unit of Distance: Select distance display: m (meter), mile (statute mile), or nmile
(nautical mile). Default setting is "nmile."
Unit of Altitude: Select GPS altitude display: m (meter) or feet. Default setting is
"feet."
Unit of Speed: Select velocity display: km/h (kilometer per hour), mph (mile per
hour), or knot. Default setting is "knot."
Update Rate: Set position update rate to Continuous or Interval. To conserve
battery power, set to Interval. Default setting is "Continuous."
Pressing the GPS key turns the power to the antenna on and off according to the
setting of the position update rate:

Setting the Positioning Conditions
Note:
When the DOP value is more than 12 the
unit cannot acquire your current position
due to the increasing error
Note:
When the position update rate is set to
Interval. the unit may not be able to acquire
the position when it reaches or approaches
the destination or specified zone.
There-
fore, the alarms and the cross track error
display may not function, and you cannot
store-your current position using the MARK
