Determining Your Current Position

To store your current position:

Press the MARK key.
The unit stores your current position. and assigns a temporary name for that
point, such as "MARKOO1." To use the temporary name. press the ENTER
key (you do not have to perform steps 2 through 4). The screen that was
displayed before pressing the MARK key appears. To change the temporary
name. go to step 2.
Press the F4 key (INPUT) to enter the point name.
Enter the point name.
Select the point icon.
To display the next page of the point icon menu, press the F4 key (MORE).
To cancel storing your current position, press the F1 key (QUIT).
To change the temporary name of a Stored point. modify the point name in POINT
mode.

You can also enter additional data about the point, such as the point type. You can
also create notes about a point. See "Modifying Points" on page 36.
If you cannot store your current position
Check the following:
¢ The GPS key is turned on (the GPS key is lit) (see page 13).
* The position update rate is set to Continuous in the Position Setting menu (see
page 72).
Getting Started With the Unit
Note:
To store your current position, the unit must
first have a current position calculated (that
is, it must be receiving GPS signals from at
least three satellites).

To enter letters and numbers, refer to
"Entering Letters and Numbers" on page 28
Note:
You cannot store your current position if:
¢ The GPS key Is turned off.
* The position is not updated for more than
20 seconds.
¢ The position update rate Is set to interval
