Step 4 Connect CPU Fans
JP13 and JP14 (shown below) are 3-pin bergs that connect the fan on the CPU heat sink to
the motherboard power. JP13 is the CPU0 fan connector for the CPU in location U13. JP14
is the CPU1 fan connector for the CPU in location U15.
All Pentium II/Pentium III CPUs are shipped with a heat sink, and a CPU fan.
The connector from the CPU fan usually has three leads:
the black lead represents ground
the red lead represents +12V
the yellow lead represents tachometer output
JP15 System Fan JP15 is a 3-pin berg. The pinout is the same for JP15 as it is for JP13 and JP14. The chassis
fan should provide a tachometer output on Pin 3 so it can be monitored by the onboard
server management hardware.
