Step 10 Set Options on the QLogic Menu,
Configuration Settings Screen, cont'd... The Host Adapter Setting subscreen displays the list of host
adapter settings. The system provides the BIOS address, BIOS revision number, and
interrupt level.
You can select the options for the other items, beginning at Host Adapter BIOS. The
definitions and settings for the other items are:

Settings
If you set this to Disabled, the ROM BIOS on
the board is disabled, which frees space in upper
memory. Do not disable this setting if you boot
from a SCSI disk drive attached to the board. The
settings are Enabled or Disabled. The default
setting is Enabled.
Set this to Enabled to perform burst transfers.
The settings are Enabled or Disabled.
Set this to Enabled for the ROM BIOS to boot
from the attached SCSI CD-ROM if a bootable
compact disk is installed. The settings are
Enabled or Disabled. The default setting is
Disabled.
The settings are Auto, Manual, or Safe . The
default is Auto.
If set to Auto, the BIOS automatically configures
the board to match any SCSI device that is
attached to the board and select optimum
performance.
If set to Manual, you can select the
configuration settings manually for any SCSI
device.
Note: If you change any values, performance
problems for incorrect device operation can
result.
If set to Safe , the optimal configuration settings
are not used and all attached devices work in
minimal configuration (narrow, asynchronous
mode.)
Note: Safe mode is used primarily to
troubleshoot SCSI devices that are not working
properly during normal system operation.
Set this to Enabled for the board to use the RISC
firmware that is embedded in the software driver.
The settings are Enabled or Disabled. The
default setting is Enabled.
