Audio record data and proxy audio data that are written to the PIERe SDRAM are sent from PIERe to the CPU together
with video record data and proxy video data with the PCI-Express interface.
Then the data is output from the CPU board as record data, and is then written to the disc.
Network input
The digital record data that is input from the network connector CN600 on the SY-438 board is converted by the Ethernet
interface IC (IC600). The converted data is DMA-transferred to the DDR memory in the CPU board on the HPR-55
board with the PCI Express (PCIe) interface.
• Writing data to disc
The record data saved in the DDR memory is DMA-transferred to the PCIe / SATA Bridge IC (IC2701) on the
HPR-55 board with the PCIe interface, and is then converted to the SATA signal. Then the SATA signal is sent
through the CN-3594 board to the IF-1240 board.
The SATA signal is converted to data by the SATA / ATA Bridge ICs (IC201, IC401), ATA / PCI Bridge ICs (IC202,
IC402), and PCI /PCIe Bridge ICs (IC206, IC406) on the IF-1240 board. Then the converted data is sent to the
optical drive and is written to the disc.
• Writing data to external USB3.0 device
The record data saved in the DDR memory is DMA-transferred to the USB3.0 HOST controller IC (IC201) on the
DIO-100 board with the PCIe interface and is written to the external USB3.0 device.
Copying disc data to the external USB3.0 device
Upon a DMA request from the CPU board, data is read from the disc on the optical drive. The read data is sent to the
HPR-55 board through the PCI DRIVER IC (IC101) on the IF-1240 board and the CN-3594 board .
Furthermore, the data is DMA-transferred to the DDR memory on the CPU board through the PCIe/SATA Bridge IC
(IC2701) on the HPR-55 board with the PCIe interface.
At the same time, the CPU board DMA-transfers the data saved in the DDR memory to the USB3.0 HOST controller
IC (IC201) on the DIO-100 board with the PCIe interface and writes the data to the external device.
Copying external USB3.0 device data to the disc
Upon a DMA request from the CPU board, data is read from the external USB3.0 device through the USB3.0 HOST
controller IC (IC201) on the DIO-100 board. The read data is DMA-transferred to the DDR memory on the CPU board
with the PCIe interface.
At the same time, the CPU board DMA-transfers the data saved in the DDR memory to the PCIe/SATA Bridge IC
(IC2701) on the HPR-55 board with the PCIe interface and then converts the data to the SATA signal data. Then the
SATA signal data is sent through the CN-3594 board to the IF-1240 board.
Furthermore, the data is sent to optical drive via SATA DRIVER IC ( IC101 ) on the IF-1240 board, and written in the
disc.
Playback System
The playback data read from the disc is sent to the CPU board on the HPR-55 board. Then the playback data is sent
from the CPU board to PIERe on the HPR-55 board through PCI-Express and is written to the PIERe SDRAM.
The audio playback data stored in the PIERe SDRAM is sent to the VAX FPGA (IC200) in which CH-1 to CH-8 audio
signals are multiplexed. The multiplexed audio signals are sent to PB/MONI AUDIO DSP in which signal processing
(including digital JOG sound processing, playback level control, and mute processing) is performed.
The processed playback audio signals are sent back from PB/MONI AUDIO DSP to VAX as audio signals for HD-SDI
OUT1, 2, SD-SDI OUT1, 2, and ANALOG AUDIO OUT.
CH-1 to CH-8 audio record signals are multiplexed in VAX, and are then sent to PB/MONIAUDIO DSP where signal
processing (including level control, delay processing, and mute processing) is performed.
The processed audio signals are sent back from PB/MONI AUDIO DSP to VAX as audio signals for MONITOR HD-
SDI OUT, MONITOR SD-SDI OUT, MONITOR ANALOG AUDIO OUT, and HEADPHONES OUT.
The playback proxy audio data stored in the PIERe SDRAM is sent to DEC PROXY AUDIO DSP (IC1903, IC1904)
where expansion processing is added (opposite to recording). Then the expanded data is sent to APROC. Furthermore,
